Flygfältets Handelspark

Flygfältets Handelspark is a redevelopment of the former out-of-town retail area around ICA Flygfyren in Norrtälje, owned by Alecta Fastigheter. In recent years the site has gained an increasingly central position within the growing town centre. Our aim has been to transform the retail area with greenery, timber and a detailed design that ties in with Roslagen's small-scale architecture in Norrtälje's town centre. Entrances, façades, seating, greenery, stormwater management, lighting and shopping-trolley shelters in the form of multifunctional timber pavilions, along with better accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists, are some of the elements that have been developed. The existing fibre-cement façade has been reused by covering the joints with timber, together with climbing plants and planters that contribute to biodiversity. Together with NewSec, Urban Design assembled a team comprising the graphic designers New Studio, the landscape architects Urbio and Black Ljusdesign, with Urban Sidh as construction project manager.
