In 2009 Urban Design was commissioned, together with the Bergslaget association and local stakeholders in Grängesberg, to propose the development and future contents of Maskinhuset, along with a wayfinding system and the highlighting of places with a story to tell. The result was a series of information pavilions marking the traces of the site — for both view and insight. Restoration of Maskinhuset’s façade and windows was designed and carried out. The building today serves as an art gallery.
