Sjöviksbacken

A new district heating pumping station has been discreetly slipped into the east-facing slope of Sjöviksbacken. The façade of in-situ cast concrete opens up with a horizontal “crack” that reveals a warm, rust-red façade of timber battens behind it. The edges of the “crack” form informal seating, and the building's roof has room for a ball court, which is to become part of a new playground for the area's many newly arrived children and young people.
