An entry in an open competition announced by SISAB – Skolfastigheter i Stockholm, which called for a vision for the future development of Stockholm's school environments. We did not win the competition, but our entry was singled out as especially visionary, and we were invited to present it to SISAB's staff as inspiration in an internal workshop series in which they themselves were to formulate a vision for their operations in the year 2040. All of Rinkeby is a place of learning, where each school is part of a whole, with the strength to develop together. The 5 schools are tied together in a coherent network of creative, safe streets — thought paths. Along the thought paths lie the hubrids. The hubrids are architectural building blocks and places that are created and renewed through collaboration. Each hubrid has a clear idea and is built on cross-connections between different functions and the site it stands on. The hubrids create an ecosystem of outdoors and indoors and of formal learning and informal togetherness. Here, aspects of sustainability, learning and the social meeting place are layered together.
