On Friday 4 October, in the bustling heart of Hallonbergen, a series of brisk presentations and lively open discussions took place under the heading “Den mäktiga medborgaren”. UD was the lead organiser of the afternoon, which was carried out in collaboration with RISE, Balder, Kairos Future and SES. Researchers, artists and various societal actors presented their reflections on the theme. Michael and Erik from UD contributed a presentation of our strategy for greater participation in the public realm through mixed programming and new networks of places woven together within the urban space. In the morning, Kairos Future hosted an invited workshop with around 100 participants – architects, social entrepreneurs, landscape architects, urban planners and politicians – who worked together in groups to exchange experiences and explore new ways of approaching processes of change beyond the sometimes short-term, project-based mindset. The day concluded with the inauguration of the public artwork in the centre of Hallonbergen – Kökets torg, a project initiated by SES (Studio Elin Strand Ruin) that was built on dialogue and on-site activities together with the residents of Hallonbergen.
