Funkia

Funkia has grown strongly in recent years, and during the pandemic they realised the need for new premises better suited to their operations. Urban Design began the work by holding workshops together with the team to give concrete form to their needs and to develop an idea of Funkia’s own future way of working, based on the core values “the team” and “a responsibility towards one another”. An outdoor space as an “experimental workshop” adjacent to the premises, and room for the construction and maintenance team’s (Studio Grön) equipment, tools and vehicles, were new needs identified over the course of the work. This work resulted in a space programme — a description of the requirements and wishes that formed the basis for a search for premises. The premises finally chosen were the top floor of Stockholm New 04. It met the requirements with two generous roof terraces, a panoramic view over southern Stockholm, generous daylight, and room for collaboration, socialising and individual work, along with a large garage space for Studio Grön to clean and store their tools and vehicles.
